Geniko Lykeio Iasmou, Greece

Geniko Lykeio Iasmou (General Upper Secondary School of Iasmos) is situated in Iasmos, a small town 23 km west of Komotini, in East Macedonia and Thrace region. It is a public Upper Secondary General School. It has about 120 pupils and 18 staff/teachers. A huge percentage of our students belongs to Muslim minority. Some of them have low social and economical profile. Also, there is a percentage of 2% of pupils with special needs. All our students are able to communicate in English. Our school offers general secondary education. We try to adjust our school to rapid financial, cultural and technological changes and to add European added value. By joining this project we hope that our students’ and teachers’ skills will be developed and the quality of the educational process will be improved. The teachers and the students involved in the project will have an opportunity to observe, evaluate and enhance their knowledge from a range of different perspectives. They will get a chance to teach, participate and learn in an educational system different from their own. We strongly believe that a collaborative project can contribute to strengthening our European dimension, to sharing our different cultures and developing long-lasting links.


Istituto Istruzione Superiore “P. Mazzone”, Italy

IIS ‘P. Mazzone’ is a secondary high school in Roccella Jonica, a small town in Calabria, South Italy. It consists of a ‘Liceo Scientifico’ which includes an option of Applied Sciences and provides scientific, human and technical studies and of an ‘Istituto Tecnico Industriale’ which prevalently provides technical sudies and covers four courses (mechanics, electronics, chemics,transport and logistics). Over 740 students from very different condiciones and profiles attend the school and it has more than 100 staff persons. The school is a very dynamic one: students participate in sports, scientific and cultural, English courses, astronomy, music, seminars in physics and philosophy, journalism and local heritage. Further, the school has always carried out competence development of teachers through training courses. It is our task to integrate every student in the culture to which he/she belongs: it is fundamental to us to ensure that each of our pupils, whatever his/her personal aptitudes may be, is exposed to the linguistic, literary, philosophical, anthropological, scientific, artistic and religious knowledge. All the teachers and the staff jointly make every effort to improve the quality of their teaching and to meet students’ needs. Our school cooperate with all local public bodies, voluntary and nonprofit associations, Small medium Enterprices like V.E.M. srls.


Joniskio “Ausros” gimnazija, Lithuania

Our gymnasium is situated in geographically disadvantaged area, far from main industry centres of our country. Our gymnasium implements some national, local projects, activities in order to enhance motivation, promote interest in academic and after school activities, particularly for students residing in rural areas. Unemployment in our district is 16,3 % , moreover , the government provides students with free lunch at school (29% ).Despite the high number of migration of young families to more attractive places and countries, our school tries to provide to local children active and interesting free time activities. The gymnasium (secondary school) has the deepest educational traditions and experience in the region. The main aim is to ensure students’ progress, create the best health education, provide them with all further national and international education possibilities. Therefore, gymnasium administration, staff have to look for effective school management ways, apply infrastructure changes, be constantly trained and learn from other European schools. Moreover, all regional schools undergo local infrastructure reform, administrative staff turnover, experience certain changes, seek for the most efficient staff educational traditions and experience in the region. Lots of new education ideas, ways, experience come from its administration and staff. Students from various places of the region attend this particular gymnasium. There are 419 students in our school today. Our country and even our region is not attractive for refugees. There are 45 teacher in our school. Mostly about 10-12 teachers participate in the international projects.


Colégio La Salle Barcelos, Portugal

Colégio La Salle de Barcelos had its origins in 1952, when the Congregation of the Irmãos de La Salle acquired the “Quinta do Galo” located at Rua Irmãos de La Salle, in Barcelinhos. On September 3 of that same year, the first community of Brothers of La Salle was formed in this region, whose main objective was the formation of young people who wanted to prepare for future brothers. In the mid-70s, the idea of transforming Colégio La Salle into a school open to all matured, with an Educational Project that aims to unite cultural formation with human and Christian formation, thus contributing to the education of young people who will come to play roles predominant in the society of the future. Therefore, on October 1, 1981, Colégio La Salle starts this new class with two classes in the 5th year of schooling. We have 500 students and 50 staff persons. The La Salle as secondary school has general course and also has an element of professional courses (vocational). We have vocational courses science and technology, robotics. In order for its course, in these three years of secondary education, to be based on skills and quality results, the College offers Curriculum Enrichment activities, in subjects subject to external evaluation (national exams), thus allowing students to deepen their knowledge. their knowledge. Even so, the work developed with our high school students continues to give them the opportunity to get to know themselves, as people, and to decide their life project. Participation in moments of reflection, volunteering and others of a social nature continues to be one of the means for achieving opportunities and decisions.


İstanbul Küçükçekmece Özel Sefaköy Uğur Anadolu Lisesi, Turkey

Our school has 221 students(Ages 15-18) and 22 teachers.By adopting the vision of catching the future and leading the future in all fields,the training activities are carried out successfully.Our students take a four-year education.In the first year,9th grade students are accepted as A2 students.If their English is lower than this level,they have to attend English courses in summer before starting the school.During the year, students are given many different projects to improve their language skills such as preparing an inverview with famous person,practicing by acting novel or tales characters.In second and third year,students try to be B1 and B2 students.If students want to take an education in Foreign Language Department in University, we havenprofessional teachers to help them.Besides this, we have MUN lessons which all the students are to attend and club for students improving their English. At the same time,students are taught English cultures by living.Also,German is taught as a second foreign language from 9th grade to 12th grade.In all grades,we are trying to use all the tools,like projects,out-of- school activities,optional courses,to stimulate and upgrade the learning process.
